carpe librum june banner yellowface

Join the Carpe Librum Book Club in reading Yellowface by R.F. Kuang! This month's pick follows the story of June Hayward, an unsuccessful young author who decides to steal the manuscript of a former classmate after her untimely death and publish the work as her own. Plagiarism aside, the stolen work focuses on the experience of Chinese immigrants, leading June to falsely present herself as an Asian-American woman when she is not. Yellowface is a satirical thriller that tackles issues related to race, the publishing industry, and social media.

New members are welcome to join our discussions at any time—no sign-up is necessary! Copies of Yellowface will be available for check-out at the circulation desk beginning on May 1.
