Many people want to lessen their impact on the environment but might need some help and support along the way. The Rosemary Garfoot Public Library is sponsoring an 8-week EnAct (Environmental Action Teams) program which gives people tools and encouragement to adopt more economical and environmentally-friendly lifestyle practices. We will use the companion book, EnAct: Steps to Greener Living, as a guide in our discussion of various environmental topics and the simple actions we can take to reduce waste, conserve energy and water, protect water quality, reduce automobile use, and make healthy and sustainable food choices. The program is free and registration is required. Please call Kris or Pam at the library (798-3881) for further details.
Join the Eco-Book Discussion Group on Thursday, October 1 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss Michael Pollan’s smart & quirky book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma: a Natural History of Four Meals. Pollan’s book is a portrait of America’s way of eating and an indictment of today’s food industry.
Pollan will present a lecture at the Kohl Center on September 24 at 7 p.m. as part of the Humanities Without Boundaries Lecture “Go Big Read” event.
